Frank Mitchell
attended the June certification held at the Indian Hills Golf
Course in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was most impressive right
from the start, with his rather untraditional baseball-like
waggle of the club as part of his pre-shot routine. He then
proceeded to drive the ball some 300 yards through the air, over
water, reaching the first hole, a par-4, using a 3-wood, no
less.
The love for sports
started for Frank when he was a mere four years old. He stayed
with both sports through his pee wee, high school and college
days, and even professionally. Frank played college football for
the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers under Tom Osborne, and
then made the practice squad with the Miami Dolphins under Don
Shula. This spanned a 6-year period. Frank’s baseball career
lasted 3 years and included minor league stints with the Red
Sox, Royals, Pirates and the Astros.
Once Frank focused
in on golf, it didn’t take him long to become a scratch golfer.
This was due to the fact Frank takes all of his sporting
activity very seriously, and applies himself to the fullest.
Frank is currently
coaching various sports at the high school level. For the
present, Frank intends to keep his amateur status in order to
embark on a rather ambitious quest. He plans to compete in and
hopefully win the US Amateur, which would earn him a spot in
both the US Open and the Masters.
Good luck, Frank!
